Remember the Suzuki Swift Dzire sedan that was often called the ‘Swift with a boot’? Well Suzuki has now introduced the all-new Dzire sedan as a standalone model in South Africa.
With the Dzire weighing in at only 890kg, it means that it’s tiny naturally aspirated 1.2L petrol engine will get you where you need to go with an adequate pace. The engine pushes out 66 kW and 113 Nm of torque with the help of either a 5-speed manual or automated manual transmission (AMT). The light weight of the Dzire also means that the car has a fuel consumption of only 4.9l/100km.
The car features a polygonal grille with chrome accents and large headlights to either side of the grille. It also has rear LED tail lights with integrated fog lights. According to Suzuki, The new Dzire has an improved drag coefficient of 18% compared to the previous Swift Dzire model, which results in an improved fuel economy and a quieter cabin overall.
There are various colour options that consumers can choose from including Oxford Blue Pearl Metallic, Sherwood Brown Pearl Metallic, Gallant Red Pearl Metallic (the colour option we had on test), Arctic White Pearl, Silky Sliver Metallic, Magma Grey Metallic, as well as Midnight Black Metallic.
I feel that the way the Dzire drives is perfect for a small family or if it is used as an Uber car because it is well balanced with an adequate amount of power to get you going. It is very spacious inside with ample boot space to put luggage or groceries in.
There are 3 variants of the Suzuki Dzire available to purchase:
- Suzuki Dzire 1.2 GA Manual – R161 900
- Suzuki Dzire 1.2 GL Manual – R177 900
- Suzuki Dzire 1.2 AMT – R191 900
Each with a 5-year/200 000 km mechanical warranty and a 2-year/30 000 km service plan.
The interior design is quite similar to that of the Swift hatch, where it features the same silver accents on the dashboard as well as steering wheel mounted controls, a sound system with Bluetooth connectivity, air vents, 12V socket in the front as well as a USB port and Aux. The key interior differences between the Swift hatch and Dzire sedan is that the Dzire has added rear air vents and an extra 12V socket. The GL Specification also includes a rear fold-able armrest with integrated cup holders.
All Dzire sedans feature air conditioning, a tilt-adjustable steering column, front and rear electric windows, electrically adjustable door mirrors, 2 airbags (driver and passenger), security alarm with immobilizer and rear ISOFIX child seat mounts.
